Is the co-founder and was the Musical Director of Feraba until 2004. He was born in Guinea, West Africa, and is a Master Balafon player and Griot. He has toured the world with the internationally famous African dance troupe Les Ballets Africains and was a founding member of the award winning African dance company Les Merveilles de Guinea.

Mr. Sylla has composed for, performed and recorded with many different groups including Badenya and Tamalalou.

Discography

He teaches Balafon workshops (the only one of it’s kind!) and drum classes throughout the US.

He has been a featured artist and guest teacher at universities including Wesleyan University in CT. Currently he teaches at the State University of Florida at Gainesville.

Mr. Sylla is a Fellowship recipient from the New York Foundation for the Arts and has also received a Meet the Composer grant.
